My passion for wine began in the early 1990s while living in San Francisco.  Living so close to Napa and Sonoma counties, it was common for my wife and I to take a weekend drive into wine country to visit the vineyards and wineries.  It was there that I began to appreciate the subtleties of different grapes and the connection to the places they are grown.  
To me, wine is "history in a bottle".  Each vintage is an expression of the year in which it was made.  Not only the grapes themselves, but an expression of the soil, the weather, the location on the hill, the methods the winemaker chose and the time it has spent in the bottle.   I have spent decades reading, studying and of course sampling wines from around the globe.  Perhaps the best thing I have learned, is that wine is best when it is shared with others.  Stomp the Grapes is dedicated to that premise.  Sharing what I have learned and continuing to explore the ever changing world of wine. There is a story in every bottle and I want to share that story with everyone I meet.
